Cancer survivor and advocate
I was diagnosed with stage I, metastatic papillary thyroid cancer in January 2017 at the age of 27. Being diagnosed at such a young age while I was in graduate school and working full-time was a whirlwind. However, with the help of a dedicated medical staff at Inova here in Northern Virginia, along with my mom who is and always be my caregiver, I managed my way through all the hardships that come with having the ‘C word.’ After earning my Master’s degree in health communication, I knew what I wanted to do, what my passion was. Helping other cancer patients is the greatest gift I can give, and I’m so happy to grow a close-knit group, a family, of thyroid cancer patients.
