SUMMARY:Visual Snow Syndrome
DESCRIPTION:AnCan and the Visual Snow Initiative (VSI) have partnered together to provide face-to-face support and interpersonal connection for the Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS) community by hosting virtual\, peer-moderated support groups. \nOur virtual VSS support group focuses on not just the physical symptoms of VSS\, but how it can affect your mental health as well. Run by individuals with VSS who understand our struggles\, this is a safe space for people of all ages affected by VSS (whether a patient or a loved one) to relate to one another and share experiences\, tips\, or other important topics. Having VSS can be isolating and it may be hard to find someone else with the condition in your area. We want to remind you that you are not alone in this. We can communicate together face-to-face\, support each other\, gain insights from one another’s experiences\, and learn more about the diverse global impact of VSS. \n1st Wednesdays of each month at 8 PM Eastern in Schmier Room. \n3rd Tuesdays at 2 PM Eastern in Schmier Room.

SUMMARY:Sarcoidosis
DESCRIPTION:This support group is for patients and caregivers of a Sarcoidosis patient. We are all patients supporting one another. \nSarcoidosis (pronounced SAR-COY-DOE-SIS) is an inflammatory disease characterized by the formation of granulomas—tiny clumps of inflammatory cells—in one or more organs of the body. When the immune system goes into overdrive and too many of these clumps form\, they can interfere with an organ’s structure and function.\nThis disorder affects the lungs in approximately 90% of cases\, but it can affect almost any organ in the body. \nIn some cases\, the disease goes away on its own. In others\, the disease may not progress but individuals will still suffer from some symptoms that challenge their quality of life. The rest of patients—up to a third of people diagnosed with the disease—will require long-term treatment. Sarcoidosis is considered chronic in people whose disease remains active for more than 2-5 years; in this population sarcoidosis can be debilitating and life-\nthreatening. \n  \nSecond Wednesday of the month\, 7 pm ET.
