AnCan and The Chris “CJ” Johnson RMC Foundation come together to provide support for the Renal Medullary Carcinoma (‘RMC’) community by hosting video chat, peer moderated virtual groups. RMC is a rare type of kidney cancer associated with Sickle Cell Trait (SCT) or Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).
The Chris “CJ” Johnson Foundation Inc., established in 2013 by Ritchie Johnson in memory of her son, Chris, who passed away in 2012. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Sugar Land, Texas. Our primary focus is to identify individuals with sickle hemoglobinopathies such as sickle cell trait (SCT), who may be at risk for renal medullary carcinoma (RMC), a rare and aggressive form of kidney cancer. We offer programs that heighten awareness, educate and promote advocacy to increase public understanding, and ultimately a cure for RMC. Additionally, the foundation donates annually to University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center located in Houston, Texas to advance RMC research.
Our mission is to be a global community dedicated to creating awareness and alleviating healthcare disparities for individuals diagnosed with RMC through advocacy, education and research. Ultimately, all persons affected with RMC will have equal access to institutions that are leaders in cutting-edge research.
Our vision is to eliminate healthcare disparities and find a cure for renal medullary carcinoma (RMC).

Our moderators are patients and caregivers who intimately understand the struggles associated with RMC. We aspire to come together to give strength, bring encouragement, and provide support to patients and caregivers from all over the world. This is a peer-moderated group. As such, we cannot provide medical advice; we can speak about our own experiences with RMC. We are here for you, and look forward to meeting you! Moderator bios are found below.

Webinar: Radionuclide Diagnostics & Theranostics – Theory and Clinical Practice Meet!
Nuclear payloads, guided missiles, directed assassinations…not in global conflict or wars, but prostate cancer and what happens inside bodies of men getting radionuclide theranostics (treatment) and diagnostics (scanning) today.
Radionuclide treatment for prostate cancer is at least 10 years old – does that surprise you? Bayer’s Xofigo was approved in 2013 but adoption has been slow until recent FDA approvals of theranostics (treatment) viz. Pluvicto, and diagnostics (scans) like Illucix and Posluma.
Radionuclides are theory-intense with nuclear medicine doctors less exposed to treatment of advanced prostate cancer. Conversely, GU medical oncologists are less familiar with radionuclides than hormone and chemo-therapy.
Two global experts, GU medical oncologist Dr. Oliver Sartor and nuclear medicine guru, Dr. Philip Kuo will introduce radionuclide theranostics and diagnostics and discuss how the clinic and the theory intersect.

This could be scary…It’s almost open enrollment season for Medicare!
