Alyssa Mazur
Alyssa Mazur is an AnCan MS and U45 MS Moderator living in Sherman Oaks, California. She was first diagnosed with Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis, (RRMS) in May 2000 after experiencing three separate cases of optic neuritis, the first in 1996 when just thirteen. Alyssa remained undiagnosed for the next three years yet still went on to obtain not just her high school diploma but a bachelor’s in sociology, as well as earning a Master of Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in social work. Her own early diagnosis led to postgraduate studies focusing on early onset MS and the young multiple sclerosis population.
Alyssa remains an avid reader with the goal to stretch her cognitive abilities and not let multiple sclerosis stop her progress. She has also responded to requests to discuss her journey with multiple sclerosis, both in public forums, live, and online.
