AS Prostate Cancer Moderator
Hugh’s PCa journey started several years ago when his PSA began to rise in the 4-5 range. A first biopsy revealed nothing, however, the PSAs remained in the 4-5 range. In late 2019 during an annual physical, his PSA jumped to the 8-9 range and another biopsy revealed one core of 30% 3+3= 6 Gleason. An Oncotype Genomic test said Hugh had a very low risk and a mpMRI showed nothing. A urologist suggested Hugh was a good candidate for Active Surveillance. In order to to be proactive, Hugh joined our own virtual AS group. He was encouraged to move to a Center of Excellence and is now in MD Anderson’s Active Surveillance group. He currently serves as CFO for Winchester Energy, and lives in Houston.
