I attended the Metastatic Prostate Cancer support group meeting on Dec 20,2021 and it was a big mistake.
The attendees were rude, condescending and quite ignorant about the procedures within the medical community.
Several members attempt to make medical recommendations which they are not qualified to provide and their recommendations are not possible.
If you are looking for valuable information to deal with Metastatic Prostate Cancer, there are many other credible support groups and resources available.
I would not recommend this group to anyone who is dealing with Prostate Cancer at any stage.
AnCan’s Response
AnCan endorses participants’ rights to their own opinions and publishes this comment in that light.
As a peer-led support group, we do not offer medical advice. We do provide support and navigation. We invite anyone who doubts that to listen to the unedited recording of this meeting at https://ancan.org/hi-risk-recurrent-advanced-pca-video-122021/ and form their own opinion.
We have also posted the URL links provided on the night that this man requested; and they have been emailed to him. Obtaining a subsidized test from Foundation Medicne Canada has been feasible in the past for other Canadian participants. AnCan has also successfully referred men to the genitourinary medical oncologist mentioned.
