In Memoriam

1959 -2024
A painter-decorator by trade, Al was a gifted artisan through and through. He hailed from a family rich in creative talent—woodworkers, photographers, and artists. Sadly, 40 years of exposure to chemical fumes are believed to have led to his 2020 blood cancer diagnosis of polycythemia vera (PV). It progressed in August 2024 to myelodysplasia syndrome (MDS) warranting a bone marrow transplant. A match could not be found in time. Al died later that November.
“I’m incredibly grateful for Al’s presence in my life. As we say in the Jewish tradition, ‘May his memory always be a blessing.’ It certainly will be for me, and I’ll always carry his goodwill and joy.” – Rick Davis, AnCan Founder
