Joel Axler

Joel Axler has made Flagstaff, Arizona his home for the last 27 years but was raised outside of Philadelphia (Go Birds!). He is a very proud father of two adventurous, amazing young men. Joel enjoys a variety of outdoor pursuits around his high desert home with his partner in life, love, and adventure, Randi. Together, they enjoy good coffee, trail running, mountain biking, and backpacking, often with their dog, Blue (no coffee for him).

Joel found out he carried the BRCA2 gene mutation at the same time his prostate cancer was diagnosed, in the Fall of 2021. While early diagnostics suggested intermediate-favorable PCa, post-surgical pathology uncovered a Gleason 9 lesion and cells on the move. Joel would like to help bring attention to the impact of the BRCA mutation on medical decisions. Ultimately, he is focused on living his best life ever.
