Caregiving is a hard job. You do it with every ounce of love and energy
possible and sometimes that’s really hard to sustain, but you find it
hiding in the spaces of your heart marked “for emergency use only.”
I know because I was a caregiver for almost 8 years as my husband
battled colon cancer. He died 13 years ago. My 37 year old nephew
faced down melanoma for 4 ½ months before he passed away.

My ‘caregiving tool bag’ was challenged daily. Thankfully, most days I
found something I could use to make their quality of life worthwhile.
It is an expertise I would never wish on anyone, but having lived-it, it is
an experience worth sharing.

I’m Laurie, and if I can help any caregiver going through the cancer
journey, consider it done.
