Moderator: Ramsay Hunt Syndrome
Melanie Albin
My first experience with Ramsay-Hunt Syndrome was in the summer of 2013. Because my diagnosis came late, I ended up with complete left vestibular damage and vertigo, and after 18 months my facial paralysis only improved from 84% to 64%. The nerve damage caused intense pain in my eye and face. Due to a blood disorder, I’ve had three more episodes since then. I was able to walk and drive again after working with a physical therapist specializing in vestibular rehabilitation. I also drew on my skills as a marriage and family therapist to cope with the lifestyle and physical changes that came as a result of RHS.
